Our client is a leading fashion retailer renowned for its commitment to exceptional customer service and high-quality products. They are seeking experienced Juniper Network Migration Engineers to support a large-scale network migration for a large high end retail establishment. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in Juniper JunOS switching and the ability to lead remote cutover operations. Target start date is 9.15.24 through end of Q1 2025. This is a fully remote position requiring night shift work.
The successful candidate will:
Work primarily night shifts (Monday-Thursday) to perform cutovers
Be available for 1-2 hours during regular business hours for meetings and updates
Collaborate closely with on-site technicians and project team members
Adapt to a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements
Be comfortable with independent work and remote communication
Note: Holiday weeks may have reduced workload, and holiday pay is not currently included
Key Responsibilities:
Execute network migrations from Cisco to Juniper platforms
Perform after-hours cutovers, primarily Monday through Thursday nights
Collaborate with and direct on-site resources during cutover operations
Troubleshoot layer 1 and layer 2 network issues
Make necessary Clear Pass changes during migrations
Conduct DNS updates as required
Load and replace Juniper configurations
Participate in daytime meetings for process updates and project coordination
Required Skills and Qualifications:
3- 5 years of experience with Juniper JunOS switching (core requirement)
Proficiency in troubleshooting Juniper interfaces and logs
Experience in converting Cisco configurations to Juniper
Strong layer 2 and layer 1 troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with Clear Pass or similar network access control systems
Basic Linux skills
Command line interface (CLI) navigation and file management
Understanding of basic Linux commands (e.g., ls, cd, grep, cat, chmod)
Ability to edit text files using command-line editors like vim or nano
Basic shell scripting for automation of simple tasks
Understanding of file permissions and user management
Familiarity with package management systems (e.g., apt, yum)
Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration
Experience directing on site team members, remotely
Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with large-scale network migrations
Familiarity with retail network environments
Knowledge of Versa SD-WAN solutions
