Eden GeoPower Inc. "Eden" is developing electro-hydraulic fracturing technologies to increase the recovery of subsurface resources. Our goal is to develop sustainable electric stimulation methods to decrease water use, underground water contamination, wastewater production, air pollution, and induced seismicity associated with current hydraulic stimulation methods. To date, the company has secured funding from the United States National Science Foundation, MIT, MassCEC, Ameren, United States Department of Energy - ARPA-E, Good Growth Capital, and other venture capital and industry investors.
Position Overview
The Laboratory R&D Geoscientist will work directly with the Laboratory R&D Lead to expand the rock mechanics experimental program in the Company. The role requires knowledge of advanced geotechnical testing techniques and protocols; experience with experimental design and apparatus development; and a curiosity-driven mindset. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, conduct novel geomechanical tests, support on-going research programs, and expand the IP of the company.

You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, conduct novel geomechanical tests, support on-going research programs, and expand the IP of the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Take an active role in the development of new experimental apparatuses and testing protocols;
- Conduct diverse geomechanics experiments including core flooding investigations, reactive transport, and proppant and rock strength/fracturing tests using High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) Triaxial cells;
- Ensure that all the equipment in the laboratory is working, calibrated and is fit for purpose;
- Develop the Lab Safety Protocol and other EHS duties;
- Conduct fundamental and advanced research to support field investigations, and to test and develop new technologies before their deployment in the field;
- Training of new technicians in the R&D laboratory;
- Willingness to learn and share knowledge and challenges to benefit the team;
- Excellent technical and team communication skills;
- Prepare and present project updates, technical presentations and reports for the client;
- Prepare governmental reports, funding proposals, research papers, presentations, etc
Minimum Qualifications
- MS in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological/Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience (including research work completed during MS/PhD degree);
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically sound recommendations with incomplete information;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Eligible to work in the US without immediate sponsorship (F1 OPT, J1 AT are ok)
- PhD in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological/Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 5+ years of laboratory experience (including research work completed during MS/PhD degree);
- Experience with HPHT triaxial cells conducting geo-mechanical tests, and/or reactive transport, core flooding, or permeability investigations
- Microfluidics and geochemical skills is a bonus;
- Familiarity with equipment design, fabrication, and troubleshooting. Expertise with CAD/CAM is highly desirable;
- Experience with data acquisition and control systems (hardware and software). Mechatronics is a plus;
- Good/Advanced programming skills in Matlab/Python. LabView and C++ are a bonus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team
