Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently, and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data.
- Prepare and evaluate coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat, and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment.
- Train and become proficient in application equipment to spray coating formulations on test substrates.
- Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations.
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory and collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
- Document findings and communicate results using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Make suggestions on the path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow.
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments.
- Maintain a safe working environment and safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals.
- Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
- 2-year or 4-year degree from college or technical school in a chemical or life-science related field, or equivalent job experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to work well in both self-managed and team environments.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
- Comfortable with safely working with hazardous materials.
- Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Strong computer skills and ability to interpret data and trends.
