Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently, and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data.
Prepare and evaluate coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat, and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment.
Train and become proficient in application equipment to spray coating formulations on test substrates.
Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations.
Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory and collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
Document findings and communicate results using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
Make suggestions on the path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow.
Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments.
Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments.
Maintain a safe working environment and safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals.
Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
Qualifications
2-year or 4-year degree from college or technical school in a chemical or life-science related field, or equivalent job experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to work well in both self-managed and team environments.
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
Comfortable with safely working with hazardous materials.
Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Strong computer skills and ability to interpret data and trends.
