Job Description
Efforts will be focused on preparing various sample types for global and targeted metabolomics and lipidomics, as well as analyzing samples using mass spectrometry, collaborating closely with the Chemist and Lab Manager in Core 1. Additional efforts will involve calibrating sample preparation equipment such as pipettes and balances, analyzing experimental data, and drafting reports for clients. Research projects on new sample preparation techniques will also be undertaken, alongside maintaining a clean and organized lab preparation workspace.
Expected Salary
$17.00 - $19.00 Hourly
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or biochemistry is preferred. Experience in the handling and preparation of biological specimens for analysis such as protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction, or solid phase extraction. Experience in the operation of a mass spectrometer or HPLC is not required, but a strong understanding of analytical chemistry is preferred. Experience in writing and adhering standard operating procedures is critical. Positive attitude to work with a track record of working well with other staff members.
