Legislative Intern (GAPP)
Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 firm, is actively seeking a Legislative Intern to foster the initiatives of the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) Group. The intern would assist members of the GAPP practice group in monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and political developments for a variety of clients. Day-to-day tasks include researching public policy issues, covering congressional hearings, writing memos, and arranging and coordinating meetings on Capitol Hill. This is a part-time position.

Essential Functions
- Assist in researching and drafting cogent analysis of legislative, regulatory, and political developments
- Work with team to develop and implement advocacy strategy
- Attend external meetings and events and act as a representative of Steptoe and its clients
- Interact in a professional manner with policymakers and staff
- Correspond with clients and relevant parties
- Research GAPP initiatives
- Track hearings and write reports and analyses regarding relevant issues
- Assist members of the government affairs and public policy practice group in monitoring andanalyzinglegislative,regulatory,andpoliticaldevelopmentsforawidevarietyof clients.
- Complete other duties asassigned
- Currently pursuing a four-year college degree from an accredited university
- Demonstrated interest and some relevant experience in legislative affairs and/or political science (Capitol Hill experience a plus)
- Attention to detail and quality work product
- Strong communicator - persuasive speaker
- Non-smoking environment
- Available to work in the office as needed during normal business hours, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30pm., Monday through Friday
- Excellent research, writing and analytical skills
- Excellent communications skills
- Strong professional customer service skills, positive attitude
