The Linux Administrator plays a role in managing and maintaining Linux-based systems within an organization. They are responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of Linux servers and workstations. The Linux Administrator collaborates with the IT team to handle Linux-based infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to users. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and scripting languages.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux and Windows infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based or Windows solutions that meet business needs.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux and Windows systems from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures to minimize data loss and maintain business continuity.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure proper system security and data integrity.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and system analysts to troubleshoot and resolve software compatibility issues on Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades to improve system performance and scalability.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge and experience with, Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows Operating Systems
  • Proficient in Linux command-line interface (CLI) and shell scripting.
  • Hands on experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Hands on experience with networking concepts, protocols, and services, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies, such as RAID, SAN, and NAS. Nimble storage is desired.
  • Understanding of security best practices and experience in implementing security measures on Linux and Windows systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing Linux and Windows systems as a Systems Administrator for Linux and Windows Server 2008, 2016, 2019, and 2022
  • Extensive amount of hands on REHL experience.
  • Proven experience in managing complex Linux and Windows environments.
  • Hands on experience and deep knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages
  • Hands on with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Hands on experience with Storage, Nimble storage a Plus.
  • Hands on experience with Backup and Recovery tools, Commvault a Plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide off hour support for server environments when needed.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Hands on Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud computing.
