Logistic Manager

Position Summary:

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing all domestic and international logistic activities at Holtec International located in East Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for strategic and tactical execution of the distribution of Holtec’s finished goods and materials to its valued clients (both internal and external)
  • Manage shipping responsibilities related to carriers, requirements, paperwork, and packaging
  • Main point of contact for internal problem resolution/information regarding shipping logistics
  • Knowledgeable in the market and operations of various modes of transportation and be the main point of contact for carrier base (small package, LTL, OTR, Ocean, Air)
  • Coordinate with vendors to manage import activities to meet service level expectations
  • Manage freight coordination/load planning/dispatch operations
  • Maintain, grow, and develop relationships with various transportation providers and overseas vendors
  • Familiar with and stay current on domestic and international freight options/costs
  • Familiar with various types of heavy haul and over dimensional transportation equipment
  • Understand requirements for shipping (both packaging and transportation)
  • Oversee freight pay processes, coordination/load planning, and trucking dispatch operations
  • Consolidate freight and maximize load factor on trucks
  • Head warehousing operations
  • Experience in receiving operations and reverse logistics
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategy for business expansions
  • Negotiate transport costs, freight rates, and packaging costs
  • Ensure that logistics system and activities are operated in compliance with local, state, federal customs laws and United States Customs and Border Protection regulations
  • Communicate effectively with internal/external customers on freight status and set expectations regarding capacity and capability
  • Monitor production schedule to ensure transportation is available and capable of meeting client delivery
  • Inform cost changes, shipment issues, supply concerns to respective personnel and team in timely manner
  • Monitor and identify opportunities for cost reduction, material flow improvement, reduce transportation spend, packaging spend, and business development
  • Knowledge and implementation of procedures as it relates to packaging and transporting equipment
  • Collaborate and problem solve between a variety of personnel (including shop staff, vendors, corporate and senior management)
  • Schedule work/staff and manage ever-changing priorities
  • Enforce and promote company safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

  • This role can be physically demanding and may require the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.

  • Shop Managers, Production Supervisor, Office Personnel, and Warehouse Personnel

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, transportation, or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience working in logistics, warehouse, or transportation operations, international experience preferred
  • Ability to read, implement, and enforce company procedures
  • Experience and ability managing personnel
  • Proficient software applications to include MS Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Familiar with TMS or shipping databases (or willingness to become proficient in)
  • Experience with a variety of material handling equipment (cranes, forklift)
  • Internal and external customer centric attitude
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and handle pressure situations
  • Comfortable transitioning as needed from office to floor management, etc
