Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Automation Department: Manufacturing

Reports to: VP of Operations Effective Date: 01/29/2024

Status: Full-Time

Job Summary: Perform electrical repairs, mechanical repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure the integrity of infrastructure and the production equipment performs as required. This position will have a focus on automation. (Labelers, robotics, conveyors, etc.) Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Safety and cGMP procedures.
  • Install, alter, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical molding and lining equipment, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC systems when needed.
  • Perform all required preventative maintenance tasks within the timeline specified on all assigned equipment in the molding department and building utilities/infrastructure.
  • Complete any required documentation.
  • Assist with any other tasks asked of you when needed to be a team player and assist wherever needed.
  • Assist with mold changes when needed.
  • Responsibilities include the above but are not limited to the above; a maintenance technician may be assigned any maintenance-related task.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned .

Qualifications:

  • Minimum seven years combined maintenance experience on injection molding machines and related production equipment. (Preferred)
  • Proficient in PLC understanding and programming.
  • Proficient with robotics both related in injection molding and packaging applications.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read/interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, hydraulic and electrical prints, and procedure manuals
  • Plant shut down and startup (proficient).
  • Proficient in print reading - electrical and hydraulic.
  • Capable of effective communication with tech support in troubleshooting scenarios and parts procurement.
  • Proficient in all aspects of maintenance.
  • Proficient in plant infrastructure and knowledge of all towers, chillers, dryers, pumps, etc. that are vital to plant operation.
  • Emphasis on regaining machines to production status - timely and effective.
  • Ability to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Capable of performing job duties with little or no supervision
  • Capable of welding
  • Able to work well with others and in a team environment.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly appearance of the shop and molding machines.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs over shoulder height and 75 lbs to the waist at a minimum of 10 times per day.
  • Ability to push/pull 200 lbs at a minimum of 10 times per day.
  • Ability to work at heights. Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
  • Ability to climb ladders safely and without assistance for a minimum of 10 times per day.
  • Ability to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.
  • Ability to work overhead or in an awkward position on a frequent basis.
  • Verbal communication is adequate to use a radio and/or paging system.
  • Must be able to work around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reactions.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 11 hours of a 12-hour shift. Or 7 hours of an 8-hour shift.
  • Take control of a machine when a situation arises that has the potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of equipment.
  • Must be able to work any shift and mandatory overtime as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
