Roles And Responsibilities
- Direct the activities of an hourly team within the Shops
- Identify, Quote, Source, and Purchase Materials and Tooling used for Manufacturing
- Achieve highest safety levels on the campus
- Develop, coordinate, lead and execute daily production plans
- Coordinate consistent and effective work scope transitions from area to area
- Achieve highest levels of internal and external customer service
- Develop and implement process controls
- Support GE Aerospace Research Shops Team Leader in the strategic planning of manpower, equipment and other resources
- Mentor and motivate team in safety, quality and productivity improvements
- Coordinate resources to achieve goals with a timely and cost-effective strategy
- Identify, develop and execute a deck of projects to improve existing process quality and lower cost.
- Work with Hourly Leaders to develop and execute plans to drive step change advancements in manufacturing processes
- Interface with the Hourly Staff for improvement of product quality and to ensure corrective feedback to quality issues
- Initiate and project manage capital equipment projects that support in-house Manufacturing sustainability, cost and cycle improvements
- Work with shop to develop manufacturing methods, schedules, and documentation for improvements
- Implement operator training plans
- Apply lean methods to equipment and material handling designs to reduce waste throughout the production process
- Design, procure and implement tooling and fixturing to support rapid setup changes
- Analyze and plan staff utilization, space requirements, workflow, and layout of equipment to achieve maximum operational quality and reliability
- Support Site lean and EHS initiatives
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment and processes
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in Manufacturing)
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

- Mastercam and/or other CNC Programming proficiency
- Machine Shop/Toolmaker/Machinist Background
- Machine Repair Experience
- Hourly Supervision Experience
- Experience working in and Union Environment
