CONTEXT: Seeking a temporary Contract or Freelance Mechanical Designer to design and draft process and piping systems and equipment for various projects relating to water/wastewater treatment in both industrial and oil & gas markets.

CONTEXT: Seeking a temporary Contract or Freelance Mechanical Designer to design and draft process and piping systems and equipment for various projects relating to water/wastewater treatment in both industrial and oil & gas markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design pipe and pump systems relating to water / wastewater treatment and recycling.
- Source pumps, flowmeters, pressure sensors and other instrumentation with specifications provided by engineering team.
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process and Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Design basic steel structures using cost effective fabrication practices.
- Prepare detailed mechanical design drawings and develop Bills of Materials for fabrication and construction bids.
- Review and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids.
- Coordinate with outside fabrication shop to build equipment per drawing and written specifications.
- Make site visits as needed to follow up on fabrication and/or construction.
- Manage filing and storage of drawings and other engineering documentation.
- Track vendor/supplier delivery schedules and expedite as needed.
- 5+ years of Mechanical or Chemical Engineering related to plant processes.
- Prior experience designing/drafting process systems for wastewater treatment plants, such as vessels, tanks, pumps, pipes, valves, instrumentation, and filtration grids.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with both field personnel and management.
- Proficient computer skills including Excel, AutoCAD and Solid Works.
- Ability to work independently in the field to develop equipment, plot plans, pipe routing and connection plans and utility access plans.
