The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is responsible for the collection and processing of customer specimens and the performance and evaluation of a range of clinical laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of customer treatment. Customers may include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Customers may include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Requirements
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Successful completion of an accredited program in phlebotomy training or medical assistant program preferred.
Experience
- Completion of an accredited program for Medical Laboratory Assistants or Medical Assistants.
- Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
- Completion of a course in medical terminology and at least two semesters of college level biology and/or chemistry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments
