As an UW Support specialist, you are part of an inbound call team providing a unique service to the agents/brokers marketing our portfolio of product offerings by providing underwriting guidance for prospective clients who have medical conditions. This team also provides a valuable service to prospective clients by providing details about the underwriting decision.
Key Job Functions:
Provide underwriting guidance to agents requesting pre-qualification of prospective Medicare Supplement or ancillary product clients. This will include taking incoming calls from agents and asking for specific information as well as asking additional probing questions related to medical history or prescription usage.
Provide underwriting decision details for denied or modified coverages. This will include delivering the message with empathy and sensitivity to agents and/or applicants and providing additional information for any next steps.
Provide a brief and accurate summary of any telephone conversations related to an applicant or member. This will include properly documenting appropriate systems.
Understanding of the portfolio of product offerings and the different underwriting criteria used to accurately evaluate a pre-screen request.
Build and maintain relationships with other members of the new business team to include the Agent Resource Center team. This will include advising team members of the details of a call being transferred prior to transferring.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a High School diploma.
Insurance related work experience preferred.
Above average knowledge of medical conditions/prescriptions
Prior customer service experience helpful
Active listening skills
Ability to meet quality standards for inbound and outbound calls
Ability to work in multiple computer applications
Basic Excel and Word skills
