The Product Safety team for Edison Works is looking for a highly motivated engineer to contribute and lead several military products through the NPI (new product introduction) product safety process to include conducting rigorous risk assessments, and hazard evaluations. This position also includes participating in accident investigations. Job Description
Roles And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the theory, design, development and practical implementation of product safety engineering methodologies and techniques for equipment and devices. Execute a process to identify and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design to an acceptable level; conduct rigorous safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations, utilize human factors principles to drive design improvements in order to eliminate human error in the operation and maintenance of the product in the field
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering
- Ability to maintain or obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance
- Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Product safety experience including risk assessments and hazard evaluations
- Earn value management experience
- Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

- Established project management skills.
