PROJECT MANAGER


As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of assigned projects. This includes providing direction, supervision, and coordination to ensure that quality standards are met, efficiency levels are maintained, and client satisfaction is achieved. Your role will involve marketing, client service, project planning and control, managing budgets, staff development, and leadership.


Responsibilities


Client Service:

  • Maintain regular contact with clients to communicate progress, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Address technical, scheduling, billing, staffing, and quality concerns raised by clients.
  • Organize client meetings and events to foster strong relationships.


Project Planning and Controls:

  • Prepare cost estimates, negotiate contracts, and ensure client agreement on fees and project scope.
  • Develop work plans, schedules, and budgets; lead project meetings and provide technical guidance.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets, ensure timely billing, and address any issues promptly.


Staff Development:

  • Enhance the technical and administrative skills of team members; conduct regular performance meetings.
  • Plan staffing needs, recruit new team members, and ensure effective team formation.
  • Perform annual performance reviews and conduct career development discussions.


Marketing:

  • Pursue new projects with current clients and establish a positive reputation to encourage referrals.
  • Engage actively in the client community to build the firm's image and identify new business leads.
  • Define job scope, prepare proposals, and prepare statements of the firm’s qualifications.


Leadership:

  • Maintain a positive work environment, encourage communication, creativity, and personal growth.
  • Strive for personal development and set a positive example for staff.
  • Promote professionalism through continuing education and active participation in professional associations.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year accredited university
  • California registration as a Civil Engineer preferred
  • Minimum 7 years in professional-level roles with a comprehensive range of assignments in civil engineering



ENGINEERING DESIGNER


The Engineering Designer will perform basic engineering and drafting tasks on various projects, applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This mid-level role is designed to develop engineering knowledge and skills under supervision and provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth.


Responsibilities


Engineering and Drafting:

  • Execute specific assignments to develop engineering knowledge and skills.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques to tasks requiring limited engineering judgment for preliminary selections of alternatives.
  • Perform QA/QC on assigned tasks, including reviewing, checking, and correcting errors before submission to supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary to support project objectives and team needs.


Development and Learning:

  • Receive close guidance on new aspects of assignments.
  • Stay updated on new developments and methods affecting engineering tasks.
  • Attend training workshops and seminars to enhance your engineering knowledge.


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college preferred
  • Preference for candidates who have completed the E.I.T. examination
  • Minimum 2+ years of professional-level work involving a comprehensive range of assignments in civil engineering


Required Skills

  • Demonstrated competence in understanding and applying mathematics and engineering principles and theories.
  • Proficiency in CAD, engineering, and office software.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic standards, techniques, and principles for specific plans.



CAD DRAFTER

Specific Duties

  • Prepare plans, exhibits, and digital data files using appropriate CAD programs
  • Develop street, sewer, water, storm drain, grading, and other engineering plans and exhibits as directed.
  • Update and maintain drawings and CAD files to ensure accuracy and currency as directed by Project Managers and/or Engineering Designers.
  • Manage daily backup of CAD drawings to prevent data loss.
  • Adhere to standard CAD specifications, formats, and base files required by various private firms and government agencies.
  • Scale drawings appropriately, either enlarging or reducing them to fit specified dimensions.
  • Ensure that drawings meet Agency and Legacy CivilWorks standards.
  • Maintain and organize the group’s CAD files and database in accordance with Legacy CivilWorks CAD Standards.
  • Operate AutoCAD programs as well as Civil 3D, InfraWorks, AutoTurn, and Bentley Flow Master and Pond Pack.
  • Other related duties as deemed necessary.


Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in CAD Technology from an accredited Community College, or two years of experience as a CAD operator in a civil engineering/survey firm or related engineering discipline preferred
  • Familiarity with basic engineering, surveying and mapping terminology, types, procedures, and uses.
  • Competency in operating a PC and CAD systems.
  • Proficiency in high school level mathematics, including trigonometry, is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD programs as well as Civil 3D, InfraWorks, AutoTurn, and Bentley Flow Master and Pond Pack.
