Network Engineer

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for collaborating with all departments in maintaining and troubleshooting network devices and services as well as supporting the engineering manager with employee training and support.

*Must reside in Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana*

Essential Functions:

• Ensure equipment such as routers, radios, switches, DC power devices, and firewalls are operating correctly
• Route data through network to ensure stability
• Assist Engineering Manager with basic concept and designs of critical network deployments
• Serve as a contact point for the NOC and Field Engineers to provide guidance and troubleshoot network issues; also provide training in troubleshooting
• Update NOC cases and determine which work needs to be performed in the field and whether or not it must be performed inside maintenance window.
• Interface with equipment and network providers to ensure compatibility between devices and services
• Work on projects as assigned
• Availability to provide occasional off-hours support
• Ensure equipment such as routers, radios, switches, DC power devices, and firewalls are operating correctly
• Route data through network to ensure stability

Education:

Four years of High School or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience:

2 to 4 years in related field

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Two years network engineering experience
• Two years' helpdesk or tech support experience
• Network Certifications (Cisco, CompTia Network +) a plus
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Strong computer skills including MS Office
• Ability to convey information both verbally and in written form in a professional manner
• High organizational and time management skills
