Brief Description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, documentation and education of Occupational Therapy clients accessing the Rehab Specialties department.

Job Functions

  • Performs evaluations, documents care, and discharges client cases according to RMC and professional standards.
  • Provides current and quality treatment, utilizing Ridgeview and professional resources to promote continued quality care.
  • Communicates with the patient, health care providers, insurer and others to ensure that patient needs are addressed.
  • Exhibits working knowledge of hours of operation, customer base, department operations, visit procedures (i.e. Home Care), and chart audit procedures.
  • Understands and uses reimbursement and regulatory guidelines for care and environment.
  • Provides effective supervision of aides, students and volunteers when occupational therapy is provided.
  • Assists in keeping treatment environment, tools and equipment organized, clean, and safe to maximize treatment effectiveness.
  • Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and organize tasks
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
  • Ability to exhibit flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior
  • Ability to promote Rehab Specialties services
  • Ability to change work locations with or without prior notification in order to meet customer needs
  • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team
  • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

License/Certifications

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist, valid in Minnesota
  • CPR Certification
