Duration: 11+ Months (with potential for extension)
Shift Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 40 hours per week
Note: Training will occur Monday-Friday for the first 3 weeks before transitioning to the Tuesday-Saturday schedule. This role requires in-person attendance and is not a remote position.
Summary: The Office Support Specialist provides administrative support by reviewing and approving online applications for releasing decedents to funeral homes.
Responsibilities
Electronically receive, process, and approve funeral home applications for decedent release from the OCME via the online Decedent Release Portal, following standard operating procedures.
Release certified death records to the appropriate funeral home in the electronic death registration system (VIP/MAVRIC).
Communicate any discrepancies in decedent demographic information or legal next of kin/claimant information provided by funeral homes to OCME medico-legal investigators for review.
Document all case release information in CMTS and ensure that required documents and forms are electronically attached in CMTS for printing and filing in the chart.
