Performs coding and abstracting duties of outpatient records within Medical Records Department. This would include ED/Express Care records, Same Day Surgery Records, Observation records and ancillary charts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School education.
Graduate of medical records program with either a credential of CCS/RHIT preferred or eligible to sit for credentialing exam. Courses in Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology.
Training and Experience
Previous medical records coding in an acute care setting preferred. Must be familiar with medical records documentation. Data entry ability. Pass coding test with 85% accuracy.
