Outreach and Engagement Coordinator

The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator (OEC) is responsible for developing relationships and engagement with the larger recovery community, treatment providers, community stakeholders and advocacy groups to assist in the growth of the Peer Recovery Support Center (PRSC) membership and ensuring member participation in local community events to foster inclusion.  

Duties:  

  • The OEC is responsible for establishing relationships within the local community to include treatment providers, coalitions, advocacy groups, local law enforcement, secondary education, healthcare providers, and other entities to provide information about the PRSC and the recovery community. 
  • The OEC will be familiar with the statewide PRSC network and be able to articulate the function and purpose of PRSC and their impact on the community. The OEC should also be able to educate about the peer participatory process and the multiple pathways to recovery.  
  • The OEC manages the PRSC social media procreation platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and creates informative and educational content about the PRSC activities, events, and community involvement. 
  • The OEC works with the PRSC community membership and administrative team to develop attractive, informative, inclusive, and educational marketing materials, in multilingual formats, including free promotional “swag” items and printed materials to be given out when conducting outreach activities
  • The OEC will create an assertive outreach plan to target marginalized communities and other special populations.  
  • The OEC shall network and represent Ripple Effect PRSC in the community and will behave in a way that reflects the values and professional standards of the program and host agency.  
  • The OEC will attend all local community meetings representing the PRSC and other mandatory meetings and trainings.  
  • The OEC will work collaboratively with the Assistant Program Directorand Volunteer Coordinatorto coordinate members and volunteer participation in activities representing the PRSC at community resource fairs and events. 
  • The OEC will train other staff/volunteers/members in best practices for sharing information about the PRSC including the explanation of the peer participatory process and sharing stories of recovery in an impactful and meaningful way. 
  • The OEC will have the capacity to perform technical duties that would include the coordination of virtual meetings, groups and manage equipment. 
  • The OEC shall perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.  

Qualifications: 

The successful candidate should be a person in long term recovery (1 years or more) from a substance use disorder. Candidate should have the ability to be comfortable with public speaking and networking in the community. Candidates must have excellent oral, written, and computer skills with proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite, internet technologies and have experience using social media platforms. Candidates should have with experience with Canva, Constant Contact, and other engagement tools. Candidates must have experience in addiction services, marketing, communications, and be able to demonstrate cultural competence. College experience preferred; however, a combination of High School diploma and/or professional experience may be substituted for the above qualifications. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have a personal mobile phone. Candidates possessing bilingual skills granted additional consideration. 

Supervision Given: None.  

Supervision Received: The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator is supervised by the Program Director.  

Schedule: Monday-Friday 11am-7pm, with flexibility to work other hours as needed.
