PDC Design Engineer

Job Summary:


My client is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a distinctive opportunity for an experienced PDC Design Engineer with PDC experience. The PDC Design Engineer will perform engineering duties within the established product development process, adhering to industry standards, leveraging best practices to drive innovation, and conduct simple calculations for engineering problems and material selection.

This position reports to the R&D Manager of Drilling Products.



Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop PDC products by meticulously reviewing and analyzing customer specifications, operational requirements, task statements, standards, and other pertinent documentation, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineers, vendors, suppliers, and partners to ensure the manufacturability of drill bit designs, fostering effective communication channels and maintaining strong relationships to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Develop test programs to verify design and implementation meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Conduct thorough failure and root cause analyses, employing a systematic approach to identify underlying issues and implement effective solutions to enhance product performance and reliability, with a keen focus on continuous improvement.
  • Participate in assembly, testing, and qualifications of engineering prototypes.
  • Support drilling product line through implementing improvements, modifying existing products to meet customer requirements, create 3D models and prepare detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Offer technical support to operations, supply chain, marketing, and sales teams by delivering comprehensive product technical data packs, reports, technical bulletins, and updates, fostering cross-functional collaboration and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards and documents including material specifications, quality control standards, and operating procedures, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct all business activities in accordance with core values and ethical standards.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as directed by management.



Key Skills:


  • Extensive experience with PDC product design and development
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting comprehensive PDC product lab testing and meticulous evaluation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFD and/or FEA Analysis using Ansys, Abaqus or other equivalent software and analysis using drilling simulation software.
  • Working knowledge of CAD Modeling Software. (Creo or other equivalent 2D & 3D CAD modeling software.)
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering projects on schedule, while achieving objectives with excellence, and integrating principles of quality and sustainability.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication.



Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably specializing in the development of drill-bits.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
