Application Performance Monitoring Engineer

Overview:

This team does monitoring across IT – back and front-end. Application performance monitoring is really what they do. Dynatrace is the tool they use to monitor the environment today, primarily from an app perspective. Very collaborative, close-knit team. Will be excited to help support someone new coming on board. Use Teams a lot. Team of 5.

Strong Dynatrace background is key – need to really understand how Dynatrace works, not just a light user, know how to log into the portal, etc. True Engineer position- not looking for an Analyst. Need someone who has a background looking into application performance. This person will need to look at the Dynatrace portal/dashboard and correlate that back to root cause analysis, understanding where the problems lie within those problem cards. Need someone who has a background looking into application performance.

Required Skills:

• 3+ years experience with Dynatrace
• Developing custom dashboards, alerts, and reports
• Proven experience with Dynatrace APM tools
• Strong understanding of application performance management concepts
• Managing/modifying user permissions via management zones
• Identifying application performance improvement opportunities and creating corresponding monitoring and alerts
• Measuring, analyzing, and reporting license consumption of new and existing configurations
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Dynatrace certification
• Dynatrace Runtime Application Protection experience, configuring SRGs and GRAIL
• Cloud-based tooling, scripting, and monitoring
• Familiarity with application-build tooling and development practices in general
• Java software development
• Experience with the use of version control systems for code management (Git is a plus)
• Experience with code scanning and vulnerability analysis
• Experience working with AWS
• CI/CD pipeline tooling and applications
• Working knowledge of Unit testing
• Knowledge and experience with the Atlassian Suite or other DevOps application suites
• Experience with application Profiling Skills (Core Java, Thread Dumps, etc.)
• Experience with Middleware technologies (Tomcat, WebLogic, and Adobe AEM)

Description:

• You will be responsible for collaborating with management, site reliability engineers, cloud and platform teams, application developers, and product owners to identify end-user requirements and specifications for application performance monitoring.
• You will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations. This will involve developing monitoring solutions, automating workflows and using your technical knowledge of professional concepts to solve business problems.
• You will be responsible for evaluating elements of technology’s effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research and investigation and make recommendations for improvements that result in increased quality and effectiveness.
• You will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high-quality solutions that align with customer expectations.
• The Event Management, Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting (ELMA) team partners to drive business values through in-depth insights into the health and performance of solutions and products. The position will help provide application performance monitoring throughout the IT organization.
