Responsible for overseeing the selection and utilization of pharmaceuticals and supporting core clinical programs such as M-Care and formulary management, the Clinical Pharmacist develops and administers top-tier clinical programs aimed at enhancing service quality. How you will contribute:

  • Prepare and compound medications, including topical creams, oral medications, liquid medications, injectables, suppositories, nasal sprays, transdermal gels/patches, troches/lozenges, inhalation solutions, and sublingual/buccal medications.
  • Lead Medicaid formulary management processes.
  • Facilitate effective communication on pharmacotherapy issues.
  • Reach out to members to address barriers to medication adherence.
  • Manage notifications to members, stakeholders, and providers regarding formulary changes.
  • Ensure accurate formulary setup and claims adjudication.
  • Participate in discussions to improve clinical and operational processes for adherence programs.
  • Develop, implement, and update educational materials for physicians and patients.
  • Act as a clinical pharmacy resource for pharmacy benefit management.


Key responsibilities:

Medication Compounding: Prepare and compound medications in various forms based on physician prescriptions and patient needs.

Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, including record-keeping and handling controlled substances.

Staff Supervision: Manage and supervise pharmacy staff, including scheduling, training, and ensuring competency.

  • Operational Oversight: Supervise daily pharmacy operations, including inventory management and ordering supplies.
  • Patient Care and Counseling: Provide pharmaceutical care and counseling to ensure patient safety and optimal medication usage.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy and safety in medication dispensing.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with healthcare providers, patients, and stakeholders.
  • Financial Management: Oversee pharmacy financial aspects, including billing and insurance claims processing.


Continuous Improvement: Implement strategies for enhancing pharmacy operations and patient care.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop plans for handling emergencies affecting pharmacy operations.


Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical standards in pharmacy practice and patient confidentiality.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance.

Training and Development: Provide training opportunities for pharmacy staff development.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy.
  • Current unrestricted Pharmacy License, including MI Pharmacy License.
  • 2-5 years of managed care pharmacy (PBM) experience or residency equivalent.


Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • PharmD required.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, facilitation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
