The Photo Studio Art Director will be responsible for photography concepts through execution for eCommerce/website and other media. They will partner with internal teams to deliver compelling, brand-elevated statements through photography and creative merchandising.

This is a hybrid position based out of our Photo Studio in Chicago, Illinois

A day in the life as a Photo Studio Art Director…

  • Deepen customer engagement and conversion by continuously driving the creation of innovative and engaging visual experiences
  • Collaborate with Associate Creative Director and internal partners to develop and produce new visual photo/video assets for multiple mediums including digital, video, print, social, etc
  • Provide on-set art direction on styling, composition, lighting, propping, etc to meet the project objectives
  • Collaborate with the leadership team, photographers, stylists, and assistants to ensure business and creative goals of each shoot are met while maintaining exceptional brand and visual standards
  • Collaborate with the Image Coordinator and Production team to ensure asset management needs are met in an efficient and productive manner
  • Create and maintain consistent, high level visuals, standards and specifications that meet the brand specific needs, whether Crate & Barrel, Crate & Kids, CB2, or Hudson Grace

What You’ll Bring To The Table…

  • Knowledge and experience in photo art direction
  • Consistently provide innovative conception of photography styling, set backgrounds and surfaces
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging visual solutions that enhance and elevate the brand
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully guide, lead, and move forward multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to give as well as receive constructive and productive feedback and adapt accordingly
  • Maintain current knowledge of competitive landscape as well as photographic and design trends
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, listening, and communication skills, able to adapt communication style to any audience

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Must provide a link to portfolio (including password) on resume or provide PDF samples
  • 2 years of relevant photo art direction experience; digital and video experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Graphic Design, Photography or relevant area
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant software including Photoshop, InDesign, C1Pro and other internal tools.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple business priorities
  • Detail oriented and highly motivated; a team player with a positive attitude
