The Plant Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing maintenance programs and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Henderson Water Treatment facility. They are responsible for managing both preventive and repair maintenance to optimize efficiency. The Plant Engineer maintains accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, including work orders, parts inventory, parts requisitions, and equipment information. As a project engineer for all on-site projects, they coordinate work with corporate engineering and act as the site project manager. The Plant Engineer also handles sub-contracting for the site, from soliciting bids for potential projects to contracting the work and providing supervision for sub-contractors while they perform their duties..

Essential Functions

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Coordinates with Plant Manager to meet plant objectives for maintenance, design, new development, and improvement of plant procedures
  • Manages plant maintenance staff
  • Facilitate and maintain proper maintenance documentation using plant maintenance software
  • Coordinate equipment repair or selection if replaced, including pumps, instruments, controls or other plant equipment
  • Manage interaction with contractors and client
  • Acts as the onsite Project Manager for any projects installed.
  • Provide support to ensure plant operations meet environmental and safety protocols in a cost-effective manner
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Maintain effective working relations with customers, personnel, other client contacts and Envirogen staff
  • Must be able to accomplish multiple tasks and respond quickly and effectively to changes and priorities
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Adhere to safety procedures and programs


Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum (5) years' experience in industrial or domestic wastewater treatment preferred
  • Experience in plant maintenance or plant project management or plant engineering
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Welding, fabrication, general construction, or heavy equipment operation ability a plus
  • 40 hour OSHA training a plus
