ApplePie Capital is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and experienced Portfolio Manager to join our growing team. This person will report to the Risk Manager - Portfolio Management and Special Assets. You will be responsible for independently managing a portfolio of mid-sized loans after closing, including loan monitoring, completing quarterly and annual reviews, analyzing any changes in the borrower or project, proactively identifying early warning signs of trouble and implementing risk mitigation strategies, completing modification requests, and ensuring compliance with our loan agreements. This position requires working in a result driven, fast paced, team-focused and demanding environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a knack for problem solving, and a passion for providing a world class customer experience.

This full-time position will be a remote role, 5% travel may be required.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Collection, review, and analysis of financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Evaluating pertinent information to identify credit risk trends at the customer and portfolio level; notifying manager of risk changes
  • Ensure that all insurance, collateral, and UCC filings are current and accurate
  • Identify non-performing loans, investigating past due payment behavior to manage the restructure, modification, collection, and/or workout of delinquent or distressed loans
  • Providing written action plans outlining the cause of the loan default, as well as actions taken and intended actions to maximize recovery
  • Conduct thorough review of modification requests, providing financial analysis with recommendation to present for approval
  • Respond to and resolve internal and external customer inquiries and requests in a timely manner
  • May assist with training and development of junior team members
  • Monitoring construction progress on new units, addressing any issues, and ordering site inspections as needed.
  • Completes, passes, and maintains an up-to-date status for all positional and company required compliance and regulatory courses by assigned due date(s)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship building both internally and with APC borrowers, loan investors, and Franchisors
  • Exceptional credit/analytical skills
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write clear and concise credit correspondence, presenting recommendations as needed.
  • Ability to independently and proactively manage various relationships while effectively prioritizing workload to meet tight deadlines
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to advocate persuasively
  • Expertise in financial computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite) and database management tools.
  • At least five years of commercial credit experience required, analyzing, negotiating, and/or structuring loan transactions (as a credit analyst, underwriter, portfolio manager, special assets manager, or similar position)
  • Thorough understanding of credit policy, procedures, and compliance
  • Formal credit training or work related experience appropriate for the job requirements
  • Salesforce and/or nCino experience preferred


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business, accounting, or finance related field
