Preconstruction Manager

Appleton Finn is collaborating with a leading US General Contractor to recruit a Preconstruction Manager for their Southern California operations. This role is crucial for shaping the early stages of high-impact projects across the region. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of preconstruction processes to drive success from concept to completion.

Preconstruction Manager Responsibilities:

• Develops strategies and fee structures for medium-to-large projects.
• Leads complex conceptual estimates and design-build proposals.
• Ensures budget proposals protect both Appleton Finn’s and the client's interests.
• Monitors project design for budget alignment, constructability, and compliance.
• Builds strong relationships with owners and design teams.
• Manages multiple project estimates and advises on strategic opportunities.
• Supports change management and negotiations with owners or trade contractors.

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in engineering or related field; 10+ years in construction cost estimating.
• Experience leading $250M+ pursuits in various delivery models.
• Strong contract knowledge, relationship management skills, and ability to advance technology in preconstruction workflows.
