We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our Health Sciences Business Intelligence (BI) team. This role is crucial in driving process engineering, optimization, and data analysis across multiple technologies, including ServiceNow, Anaplan, Tableau, and other BI tools. The ideal candidate will excel at selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve results and be skilled in analyzing complex data and situations that require a detailed evaluation of various factors. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of analytical skills, technical expertise, and business knowledge to drive data-driven solutions that align with our organization's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced business process and analysis concepts to resolve complex issues
  • Gather and document customer requirements, design improved business processes
  • Ensure effective tech enablement throughout the organization
  • Communicate with stakeholders to collect and analyze requirements
  • Lead and support BI projects and initiatives
  • Develop ad hoc Tableau reports to meet evolving stakeholder needs
  • Identify and solve problems affecting business solutions
  • Analyze existing systems and recommend improvements
  • Conduct research, identify best practices, and create comprehensive documentation
  • Translate business requirements into successful IT projects
  • Manage projects throughout their lifecycle, from definition to rollout
  • Perform data analysis using SQL and other relevant tools
  • Create and maintain databases to support business intelligence initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of related areas of IT. Experience in data analysis and business intelligence tools, such as Tableau and Cognos, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
  • Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization. Advanced knowledge and skill in BI applications, tools, and systems, including CRM systems such as ServiceNow.
  • Advanced skill in SQL for querying and managing relational databases, with strong skills in data modeling and analysis.
  • Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation.
  • Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans. Advanced organizational and project management skills. Skilled in creating detailed reports and maintaining thorough documentation that aligns with project needs and supports user understanding.
  • Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera.
  • Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated success in working with cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and driving consensus among diverse groups.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills. Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage highly complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Strong ability to engage with and manage expectations of various stakeholders, including academic and administrative personnel, ensuring BI solutions meet their needs.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner. Ability to produce and deliver presentations to diverse audiences. Experience in developing and delivering training programs, and providing support for end-users of BI tools, ensuring high adoption and competency rates.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, tracking, and delivering projects in line with strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated competency with and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
