Microsoft Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide and we are looking for engineers to help achieve that mission.
The Silicon Cloud hardware and Infrastructure Engineering(SCHIE) Hardware Diagnostics and Telemetry Services (HDTS) Centre of Excellence (CoE) plays a critical role in architecting, developing and supporting hardware Diagnostics and Telemetry services for New Product Introduction(NPI) of Graphics Processing Unit(GPU), Central Processing Unit(CPU) and Storage systems and sustain the millions of Servers in Azure Fleet. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server Telemetry and Diagnostics solutions to support servicing of the Server hardware.
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer who has a good understanding of Hardware systems, Software architecture and automation.

These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities
- Leads the creation of implementation framework as necessary, following industry standards. Leads implementation and deployment of the solution in the existing framework.
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Leads efforts and discussions for the architecture of aspects of products/solutions (e.g., design, cost). Creates proposals for architecture and design documents, and leads testing of hypotheses and proposed solutions.
- Independently creates and mentors others for a clear and articulated plan for testing and assuring the quality of solutions, and defines success for outcomes of tests (e.g., unit tests).
- Leads efforts to collect, classify, and analyze complex data and analyses on a range of metrics (e.g., health of the system, where bugs might be occurring). Leads the refinement of products through data analytics, and makes informed decisions in engineering products through data integration.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- o OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience on several of the key technology areas such as Graphics Processing Unit(GPU), Central Processing Unit(CPU), chipsets, motherboards, Field Programmable Gate Arrays(FPGA), Basic Input Output Systems(BIOS), Baseboard Management Controllers(BMC), memory, PCIe, storage, networking, Power, Thermal.
- 2+ years of experience in Hardware systems, Software architecture and automation.

Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ year of hands-on experience in Linux or Windows Environment
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in solving hardware and software problems in PC, Enterprise server, Cloud Server (X86 environment and/or ARM64) or similar systems.
- Hands-on knowledge and experience of GPU and x86 architecture and/or ARM 64 Systems Management industry standards and skills to work in a laboratory environment.
