Job Summary: Process optimization using scientific and engineering principles to develop initiatives to improve safety, quality, operational efficiency, and productivity. Facilitates the development and deployment of new and improved processes to provide improved results. Investigate, establish, and implement standards and training for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing from pilot runs through normal production. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Works with cross-functional departments on new project start-ups to transition those products into production with appropriate training and standards in place Supports and troubleshoots manufacturing problems and processes, prioritizing those related to safety and quality, with a hands-on approach on the floor Analyzes process failures for root cause and recommends and implements corrective and preventative actions Anticipates cost avoidance and savings opportunities and proposes solutions to implement to achieve those opportunities Applies statistical methods to anticipate future manufacturing requirements and potential Utilizes Lean Manufacturing processes and techniques, such as 5S, value stream mapping, Kaizen, visual controls, and total preventative maintenance to solve improve work processes and standards and ensure sustainable results Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum safety and efficiency Creates processes which reduce process variation, improve process capabilities, optimize process performance, and designs fixture and tooling to meet special manufacturing needs Supports production staff with problem solving, discrepancy resolution, and training and evaluates and develops current process metrics and performance to identify areas requiring improvements Supports capital expenditure projects and practices cost justification analysis tools (NPV, payback period, etc.) on these projects Work with external customers on pilots and product launches as the main technical contact on the operations side. Complete full pilot reports upon completion for the customers and make suggestions on changes (if necessary) based off initial production runs. Knowledge & Skills: Ideal Candidate Qualifications: Excellent time management and self-prioritization Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Background in implementing continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing setting Ability to obtain and analyze data and statistics Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical customers Ability to read and write in English Education/Experience: 2+ years of experience in a GMP manufacturing environment preferred Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or other related field OR 5+ years of experience in a GMP manufacturing environment with a Bachelor's degree (not degree specific) Experience writing SOPs, Work Instructions, Validations, etc. Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment (cosmetics, food, bottling, etc.) Physical/Mental Demands: Regularly required to stand Occasionally/frequently required to walk Regularly use hands to utilize tools or equipment Regularly reach with hands and arms Occasionally/frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus The physical demands identified above are representative of those that will be required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: Regularly required to work in areas where chemical materials are encountered Regularly required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment May involve exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are disclosing the compensation range for roles that will be, or could be, performed in Colorado. Compensation for similar positions located outside of Colorado may differ. If performed in Colorado, the salary for this position is $82,000-$86.000 annually. This annual salary may vary based on relevant factors including but not limited to experience, education, performance, scope of responsibilities, location and other considerations permitted by law.
