(PSM) Process Safety Management Process Engineer

Job Summary: The Process Safety Management (PSM) Process Engineer will provide technical support to ensure the robust application of process safety principles and continuous improvements to compliance to reduce risk for the organization while improving viability for the health and safety, environmental, and security compliance for a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Provide leadership and support to all environmental health and safety issues to foster a culture of safety for all worksite locations.
  • Act as the point of contact and main resource to resolve complex maintenance and process issues, evaluate current manufacturing processes in place, suggest improvements, and streamline processes
  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for new processes and existing processes
  • Develop and maintain the KPI’s for plant PSM performance
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to ensure adequate risk mitigation related to process safety concerns are investigated, assessed, and resolved
  • Direct audit processes and conduct audits for pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), act as an internal auditor for PSM, ISO, and the Responsible Care® program
  • Work in tandem with operations and maintenance to champion mechanical integrity and quality assurance programs
  • Administer and facilitate the site management of change (MOC) program.
  • Complete site specific PSM action items and incident investigations effectively
  • Mentor new employees, provide training and information to them to educate and train new employees.
  • Consistently comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
  • Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams
  • Fundamental knowledge of chemical manufacturing equipment, components, and repair techniques
  • Expertise Must understand of the principles of good preventative and predictive maintenance best practices
  • Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, clients, and colleagues within the organization
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to meet company and departmental goals, handle multiple assignments, develop work plans, and meet tight deadlines

Education and Experience We Require:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, or a related discipline
  • Three years of direct experience working in a PSM regulated facility, preferably in a chemical processing or manufacturing environment
  • Work experience working in a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant highly preferred
