Job Description

As a Producer, you will work with News Coverage to field produce a variety of story elements for Broadcast, Cable, and Streaming platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Field produce interviews and elements for news stories. Sometimes with a crew. Sometimes on your own as a DJ Producer
  • Basic shooting/lighting skills with DV camera, small light kit
  • Work closely with correspondents for Broadcast/Cable stories, including field producing live shots, assisting with editorial content and writing, communicating with the bureau desk, show producers, control room
  • Identify, research and pitch stories to various shows
  • Keep tabs on local stories that could develop into national stories

Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience working in Network News
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be able to work in NYC
  • This role requires flexibility, with regular evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage. Candidates must be prepared to work irregular hours as news coverage demands including the ability to travel
  • Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice, if needed

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong storytelling ability
  • Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
