Professional Development Director, DRL Central America Professional Development Program for Anticorruption Actors

Counterpart International is seeking a Professional Development Director(PDD) for a 3-year Department of State (DOS)-funded professional development program to strengthen the practical skills and resiliency of anticorruption actors from Central America. Program participants will leverage expertise to bolster efforts to uncover corrupt practices, build their capacity to combat corruption, and expand partnerships with stakeholders to enhance anticorruption initiatives. With the support of local and headquarters staff, the PDD will work with the Project Director and program team to provide leadership on course and curriculum development and implementation for anticorruption trainings, including short and long courses. The PDD will also work with the Technical Director to guide creation of a Central American regional anticorruption community of practice.

The PDD should have expertise in training and curriculum development and extensive experience working in Central America. The PDD will ensure all program activities incorporate the latest pedagogical and adult learning best practices and methodologies, tailored to fit the needs of Central American actors.

The PDD will oversee a team of expert trainers, professors and lecturers and educational institutions to develop the technical content for year-long and short-term professional development efforts.

Responsibilities


  • The PDD will be tasked with providing leadership on the teaching methodologies and curriculum content for long and short professional development courses on anticorruption. The selected candidate will be expected to liaise with the trainers, educational institutions, technical experts, and participants involved in the project.
  • Overall leadership of pedagogical approach to program professional development efforts.
  • Facilitate learning and integration of Counterpart’s pedagogical and adult learning resources and expertise and incorporation of Counterpart’s anticorruption expertise in training offerings.
  • Ensure high quality professional development offerings.
  • Integrate learning approaches into the program’s regional anticorruption community of practice initiatives.
  • Provide mentoring and professional development support to project staff.


Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree, or equivalent in a relevant field, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in training or professional development, preferably in the Latin America and/or Central America region.
  • Prior experience with USG-funded programs, especially in Central America. 
  • Prior experience in Central America working on governance, human rights, democracy promotion, anticorruption, or other relevant topics.
  • Experience working with journalists, judges, prosecutors, human rights defenders, civil society leaders, research institutes, think tanks, NGOs, or community groups in Central America.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in multi-cultural contexts.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish and English, oral and written, required.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office, particularly word, Excel and PowerPoint.
