Program Manager Clinical Research

Position Summary:

This position will support the Assistant Dean for Research, the Vice Chair for Research, and the Research Director for the School of Medicine Phoenix Campus. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for Creighton medical students and will assist learners through the research process by connecting students to mentors and resources, initiating research projects, navigating the IRB processes, and streamlining medical student research initiatives. The administrative scope includes supporting research leadership, faculty, and learners involved in research. The position requires the ability to work independently and proactively coordinate with leaders outside of the University. The position will support the Phoenix campus in collaboration with the Omaha research offices. Essential Functions:

  • Provide direct oversight for student research-related programming on the Phoenix campus to include: M1 Summer Research Program, Research Networking Event, University Research Week, city-wide partnered research events, Research and Residency Panel, Blueline resource page, medical student orientation presentations, maintaining faculty mentor worksheet, travel grant administration, and serving as primary point of contact for student needs and concerns.
  • Fosters partnerships with research administration personnel at Valleywise Health, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, and Creighton University to understand and streamline the workflow of eachsite, assist students in navigating the research process, and serve as liaison between Creighton University School of Medicine - Phoenix and IRB leadership within the affiliate hospitals.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote a comprehensive scholarly activity and research navigation guide for all Creighton learners to understand the process and requirements for research at each institution, enhancing medical student research resources on blueline and the outward facing research component of the Creighton website.
  • Administer scholarly activity investment through the School of Medicine Academic Chair funds, tracking utilization and outcomes.
  • Support Research Interest Groups and update the Phoenix Research virtual sites to include information on Research Interest Groups, Research Committees, and meet with Phoenix research leadership and medical student elected research chairs on a regular basis.
  • Provide onsite research support hours at the primary partners weekly and engage in Creighton Alliance and School of Medicine committees that pertain to scholarly activity and research, as well as participate in annual orientations and department meetings as needed to introduce/educate School of Medicine learners and faculty inPhoenix.
  • Tracks and maintains core faculty research within the University’s database.
  • Partner with School of Medicine-Phoenix leaders and Accreditation Office to uphold compliance with accreditation standards related to research and scholarlyactivity, and stays abreast changes in regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors' Degree Required or equivalent combination of education and experience; master’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years’ experience especially related to research, grants, and finance.
  • Project management experience required.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proficient in advanced computer skills, including Office 365 suite..
  • Proven attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service siklls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skiills to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of the IRB processes and applicable terminology
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, leaders and staff at all levels
