Based in Atlanta, GA, we are a multi-service consulting and engineering firm with a 36 year history of success serving the electric, gas, water, and wastewater utilities sectors, and helping our clients make the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible choices when it comes to energy consumption and output. Due to growth and demand we are in need of a talented Data Analyst to join our team.

Position Overview: The Project Engineer is responsible for planning and executing project activities related to power market analytics, modeling, and analysis. The Engineer will work with regulatory and legislative rule making, MS Office applications, and statistical computer languages such as R and Python for problem solving, making decisions, and communicating with the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop power market analytics, modeling, and analysis in the areas of power markets, including Ercot, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, SPP, CAISO, etc.
  • Perform data analysis and statistical modeling using R and Python programming.
  • Explore issues surrounding congestion costs and ARR/FTR positions.
  • Prepare energy, capacity, and REC price forecasts.
  • Provide insights on the changing market rules, and the impact to client-critical planning functions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of regulatory and legislative rule-making.
  • Collaborate with other teams to communicate data and help problem-solve.
  • Present data-based solutions in verbal and written communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in power market analytics, modeling, analysis, and/or regulatory and legislative rule-making.
  • Familiarity with modeling tools like RTO, ARR, Aurora, FTR, PLEXOS, GridView, PROMOD IV, Dayzer, or MIDAS.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, statistical computer languages (R, Python), problem solving, and decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
