Summary

We are seeking a Front Desk Service Specialist to perform reception and service team duties within our Billing Department.

Job Responsibilities And Selected Duties

Rotating role that supports front desk reception at Browning Administrative office and billing services for the practice as part of the Service Team.

Reception Duties

  • Switchboard & Routing of Non-Queue Calls
  • Reception of Visitors
  • Work Patient Service Duties not requiring outgoing calls


Service Team Duties

  • Primary response and follow through on incoming patient calls to Billing Queue
    • Take Patient payments
    • Answer General Questions (nature of bill, insurance processing & patient responsible balances, payment options, requesting charitable care, etc.)
    • Documenting and routing Complaints / Concerns
  • Ticklers – research in billing/hospital systems to correct insurance plans, demographics & ensure proper account work and flow
  • Primary response and follow through for Askbilling Email
    • Attorneys/Adjusters
    • Bankruptcy Notices
    • Patient Inquiries
    • Other Inquiries
  • Processing or routing Liability Correspondence received by fax/mail
  • Mail Return
    • Data Media Address/Insurance Updates – emails from Marshall & updates from DMA
    • Returned Letters
  • Document and process Bankruptcy Notices outside of askbilling
  • Estate Claims - Charges on Estate tickler
  • Requests for Charity/Assistance – review requests for applicable charity care based on guidelines

Skill / Education / Background Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer proficiency, MS Windows OS and Office Suite
  • Attention to detail with positive interaction skills and phone etiquette
  • 2+ years medical office/billing experience preferred
