Position Summary
The Regional Mathematics Specialist will work with colleagues at the University of Idaho in a professional collaborative to design and deliver high-quality mathematics teacher professional development programs. Provide professional development activities for K-12 Idaho educators focused on research-based instructional practices to improve Idaho students' mathematics achievement, including:
Fostering local and regional partnerships with K-12 and community organizations through development and delivery of mathematics professional development
Collaborative preparation and planning meetings with teachers, administrators, and other professional development providers
Design and implementation of professional development courses and workshops in face-to-face and online formats
Creation and facilitation of opportunities for classroom teachers to form professional communities
Collaborate with other education groups and stakeholders, such as Idaho Building Capacity
Collaborate work with other Regional Mathematics Specialists throughout Idaho and the Idaho State Department of Education
Analyze and use school data and plan support opportunities
Frequent travel to schools for embedded classroom teaching activities
Use and facilitation of online collaborative technologies
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Mathematics
2 years of K-12 teaching experience
Experience providing learning opportunities for teachers
Experience with mathematics knowledge for grade levels 6-12
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on Mathematics Education or equivalent
Mathematics Coaching Experience
