The Lakes Region Weekly, covering Windham, Standish, Gray, New Gloucester and other towns just northwest of Portland, Maine, is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Reporter. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious journalist to become an integral part of the Maine Trust for Local News mission to deliver impactful journalism that serves our communities.

Key Responsibilities
- Write compelling stories about community events, emerging trends, and news.
- Explore opportunities for investigative and enterprise stories.
- Cultivate meaningful in-person connections with municipal and community leaders, as well as the wider public.
- Attend various meetings and events, capturing both stories and accompanying visuals to enrich our reporting.
- Assist with the start-up of a weekly newsletter focused on interesting people, places and happenings in Oxford Hills.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Reside within (or being willing to relocate to) the Sebago Lakes region providing an authentic local perspective.
- Possess clear, precise writing skills, capable of effectively communicating stories that resonate with our audience.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and integrity in every aspect of reporting.
- Demonstrate the ability to build rapport and establish meaningful relationships across diverse communities.
- Competence in leveraging social media platforms for both content promotion and story research.
- Must possess reliable transportation and hold a valid driver’s license.
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent experience is required.
