Research Associate, Molecular Immunology

Position Summary:

Orbital Therapeutics is currently seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, and creative individual with extensive experience in molecular immunology, looking to join an outstanding research team dedicated to designing and executing studies using a new generation of RNA medicines. This individual will enjoy working in a pioneering, fast-paced, and collaborative start-up environment with the opportunity to coordinate studies focused on immunomodulation, while also exploring ways to unleash the power of Orbital’s core technologies. This individual will join a culture of intellectual rigor, scientific curiosity, and collegiality, cross functionally contributing to research across the organization. The candidate will be an important team member whose contributions will be critical to our success in developing new therapeutics to improve the lives of patients.


Responsibilities:

  • Work both independently and as part of a team to design and conduct studies to characterize antibodies and antibody-like proteins using techniques such as ELISA, MSD, BLI, and functional cell-based assays.
  • Culture cells with sterile technique and perform transfections into immortalized and primary cell lines.
  • Assist with developing new cell-based and biochemical assays including troubleshooting and coming up with creative solutions.
  • Maintain an organized inventory and detailed record of all experiments and important reagents in the lab.
  • Clearly communicate findings as well as challenges that arise in a timely manner.
  • Help shape R&D strategy and contribute meaningfully to building out our internal efforts to advance our autoimmune and immune-oncology programs at the forefront of scientific innovation.


Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Immunology, Biology, or related field.
  • Must have 1-4 years of industry or academic based experience.
  • Extensive experience in designing and executing molecular immunology experiments.
  • Experience working with cell culture, including primary cells, required.
  • Experience with ELISA, MSD, BLI and functional cell-based assays required.
  • Experience running SDS-PAGE gels, Western Blotting, and in vitro transfections is a plus.
  • Familiarity with recombinant protein expression and purification a plus.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records of experimental data in electronic lab notebook (ELN) format.
  • Understanding of statistical principles as applicable to data analysis.
  • Execution focused, team-oriented, and highly motivated with strong written and oral presentation skills.
