At the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute at Providence, we strive to create a training environment that stimulates creativity and nurtures professionalism and puts postdoctoral fellows on a path to their future. Fellowships are for one year and may be renewed annually based on demonstrated progress of the Fellows IDP and will not typically extend past 5 years. Fellows are expected to apply for external funding within 2 years of their assignment and are expected to submit at least one 1st author manuscript within the first 3 years of their assignment; then one per year thereafter.

A postdoctoral research position in neuroimmunology and cancer immunotherapy is immediately available. We are a translational lab, working to test various investigational new agents in an animal model of Multiple Sclerosis, experimental allergic encephalitis (EAE). Our aim is to find an effective novel treatment candidate for MS by studying the effects of new candidate drugs by testing and studying the role of these drug candidates in EAE. Ultimately, our goal is to move a novel treatment candidate into clinical trials to be approved for the use in MS patients. Candidate will be working in a cancer immunotherapy lab and will be able to gain knowledge in both cancer immunology and neuroimmunology. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates with a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, signal transduction, cell biology, neuroimmunology and/or related disciplines. Applicants should have a record of scientific productivity, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to conduct research independently.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D: In a discipline pertinent to biomedical research.
  • Experience in presenting original research in oral and written format is essential, as is proven success in writing and publishing original research.
  • Demonstrates a track record of progressive biomedical research that indicates a growing level of research independence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D: Immunology, genomics or molecular biology or
  • Experience in the field of immunology.
  • Ph.D. Immunology, Neuroscience, Neuroimmunology, genomics or molecular biology Or Experience in the field of Immunology and/or Neuroscience.
