Key Responsibilities
- Educational Program Development:
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive educational programs for nursing staff based on identified learning needs and organizational goals.
- Create curriculum and training materials that incorporate current evidence-based practices and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize various teaching methods, including lectures, simulations, workshops, and e-learning.
- Staff Training and Development:
- Conduct orientation and onboarding programs for new nursing staff to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles.
- Provide ongoing education and training to current staff to maintain and enhance their clinical competencies.
- Offer specialized training for new procedures, technologies, or changes in practice guidelines.
- Clinical Mentorship and Support:
- Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing staff, offering guidance and support in clinical practice.
- Facilitate clinical skills assessments and provide constructive feedback to promote professional growth.
- Assist in the development of individualized learning plans for staff members needing additional support.
- Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.
- Ensure that nursing practices align with current standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with nursing leadership, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals to identify educational needs and priorities.
- Communicate effectively with staff at all levels to promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, committees, and professional organizations to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of educational activities, staff participation, and competency assessments.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to educational programs and outcomes.
- Manage resources, including educational materials, equipment, and budgets.
- The position may require flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate staff training needs.
- The role involves a combination of office work and clinical practice settings.
- The Nurse Practice Educator must be able to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment and handle multiple priorities.
