As the Director of Sales you will be the key leader for our rapidly growing wholesale business at Ulta Beauty and will represent the Sales division on our leadership team. You will play a key role in leading the strategic and integrated planning for Sales, will cultivate important relationships with our partners, and will have responsibility for sell-in and sell-through at retail.

 

This role reports directly to the CEO and is NYC based.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Account Strategy

  • Create business strategies and action plans to consistently win at Ulta/Ulta.com and stand out from the competition.
  • Identify opportunities and challenges to maximize sell through, profit, revenue, and market share.
  • Partner with Digital and Operations partners to coordinate marketplace opportunities and channel optimization online & offline
  • Conduct regular assessment of current state of account; inventory management; competition within the target; key decision makers; issues/pain points within the account and within the customer’s marketplace; potential solutions and products; opportunity for new product and service offerings; and action plan to optimize potential throughout the assigned account.

2.      Relationship Building

  • Meet with Ulta regularly to maintain relationships, planning and building business growth. Take lead on meeting prep and provide thorough data analysis and customer recaps for all meetings.
  • Develop and execute quarterly and annual business plans in partnership with Ulta.

3.      Reporting/Analytics

  • Achieves Ulta/Ulta.com sales targets and profitability goals 
  • Regularly assess performance against goals. Communicate and update CEO with strategic account information and initiatives as required.
  • Analyze and understand industry market trends, competition, products, packaging, and pricing that may impact sales efforts and communicate as necessary within the organization.
  • Disseminate reports to measure account performance, identifying, formulating, and implementing strategies to maximize sales opportunities to increase profitable sales performance.
  • Conduct monthly business reviews with senior leadership.

 

QUALIFIYING EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive account sales management experience within the beauty industry. Significant Ulta national account retail management and retail experience required. 
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership skills. Ability to interface with a wide range of individuals and develop strong relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Quickly identify and work through obstacles
  • Conceptual thinking – can integrate various sources of information into one coherent idea
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Superior execution abilities, deliver what needs to be done to meet objectives, prioritizes and plans work actions, establishes and meets goals and objectives
  • Innovative. Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness and with positivity 
  • Strategic thinker. Must be able to create and execute a strategy for accounts yet revise plans in mid-course if necessary
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Based in NYC
