Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled R&D Chemist to join our Advanced Circuit and Packaging (ACP) business unit in Marlborough, MA. This position focuses on the development, optimization, and commercialization of new products in areas such as metal plating, photoresists, and dielectric materials for the semiconductor industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry with experience in synthesis, formulation, filtration, and analytical method development and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize analytical techniques such as CVS, HPLC, UPLC, GPC, % solids, titrations, potentiostatic measurements, surface tension, cloud point, densitometer, and rheometer.
  • Document new methods, method validation, batch data, and manage change.
  • Support R&D of new additives and formulations for electroplating and polymeric/dielectric products.
  • Design and execute experiments, operating equipment and instrumentation for polymerization and electroplating of metals, electrochemistry, chromatography, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, material, and mechanical testing.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data with appropriate documentation.
  • Support Quality and Manufacturing in root cause investigations and customer complaints.
  • Adhere strictly to enhanced safety protocols and participate in all group safety activities.
  • Work safely in an R&D lab environment.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Ability to handle wet chemistry and operate standard chemical and analytical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Highly motivated and effective at working individually and within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of analytical techniques used to characterize small organic molecules, polymers, and inorganic chemicals.
  • Strong data analysis skills; experience using JMP or other statistical tools is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals.
  • High degree of repeatability and attention to detail in following procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical MS degree in analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science & engineering.
  • Experience with analytical techniques, including electrochemistry, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Chromatography.
  • Experience developing and validating new analytical methods.
  • Experience working on multiple projects and in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with materials used in semiconductor fabrication and Quality Control requirements.
