Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including owner statements, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and ensure compliance with industry regulations
- Perform detailed analysis of financial statements and key metrics to identify trends and provide actionable insights to management
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of owner statements and related reports
- Review and reconcile financial discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues as needed
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices to ensure the company's accounting practices remain current and effective
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on accounting operations
- Experience in the vacation rental industry or real estate sector is highly desirable
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g.,Sage Intacct, Airbase) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry-specific practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting specific to the vacation rental industry
