Senior Accountant

Our client is an energy company. They seek a Senior Accountant to join their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed and SOX compliant review of journal entries and disclosures
• Uphold FASB, SEC, and FERC/PSC accounting standards and requirements
• Oversee the preparation of new and revised accounting opinions and procedures
• Review the preparation of general accounting procedures to meet departmental KPIs
• Assess and finalize the staff’s analysis of various liabilities and reserves
• Help prepare benefit plan's financial statements, including reviewing tie-out binders
• Ensure the staff’s timely response to requests from internal and external auditors
• Support system and standards implementations or upgrades
• Complete other tasks and assignments as required

Requirements

• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Public (Big 4) accounting background
• Familiar with the energy/oil/gas industry
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
• Excellent communication skills
• CPA or parts passed
