Senior Accountant

Collins Community Credit Union, a growing organization, is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant in our Finance department. This person will be a competitive, independent, "doer" who can problem solve and get things done. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and reconciling general ledgers, assisting with the preparation of scheduled financial statements and regulatory reporting.

This is an onsite position in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives. Performs duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards and our work procedures.
  • Perform and review assigned general ledger reconciliations ensuring the accuracy of general ledger accounts by having a high level of understanding of the account's transactions, pro-actively researching and clearing reconciling items, preparing and processing related journal entries in the system, and completing other routine work flow items.
  • Lead in the identification and execution of departmental action plan items in support of the Credit Union strategic business plan.
  • Develop and maintain consultative business relationships with the Credit Union third parties (vendors, examiners, auditors, etc.)
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and regulatory reporting.
  • Complete financial analysis and prepare various internal and external reports.
  • Assist with constructing, reviewing, and updating procedures in the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and/or Controller.

Working Hours

  • Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred; 2-4 years of applicable accounting experience (preferably in a financial institution ); Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); ability to research GAAP-related issues; knowledge of credit union or financial institution accounting practices; ability to read and interpret financial reports; analytical and critical thinking skills; organizational skills; works independently and inter-dependently with team members; strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail, strong Microsoft Office skills; must be bondable in accordance with the State of Iowa and CCCU guidelines.
