Senior Accounts Payable Manager - Renewable Energy Projects

About The Role

Join a leading renewable energy company known for its dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects and impressive growth. With over 9GW of projects completed in a short span and a strong expansion phase, this organization is a key player in advancing renewable infrastructure. You will be a crucial part of the Accounting Leadership Team, focusing on project-based accounts payable initiatives. This role involves collaboration with external vendors, third-party suppliers, FP&A, and Treasury stakeholders, ensuring smooth and accurate processing of invoices and other critical AP functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vendor Management: Oversee the enrollment of vendors into AP ERP systems and process AP invoices related to energy storage projects and their deliverables.
  • 1099 Processing: Manage 1099 payment processing and W9 setup.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead AP financial reporting, including maintaining accounting journals, ledgers, and managing vendor payment terms.
  • Project Accounting: Support project contract accounting requirements, prepare GAAP financial statements, and assist with financial accounting audits.
  • Sales & Use Tax: Direct the sales tax and use tax AP accounting processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of accounts payable experience with a solid understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Project-Based AP: Proven experience managing accounts payable systems in Project Development, EPC, Construction, and Service Contracts.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar financial accounting software.
  • Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred.
  • Vendor Management: Strong skills in vendor management and invoice processing.
  • Excel Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including macro/VBA writing, data queries, and pivot tables.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Industry Experience: Experience supporting financial reporting and accounting for EPC or construction operations is a plus. Familiarity with renewable energy projects like solar, wind, or battery storage is desirable but not required.
  • Market Knowledge: Understanding of national energy power market tariffs (e.g., WECC, PJM, ERCOT) and incentives is beneficial but not required.
