The Economist is seeking a proven Senior Marketing Affiliate Manager who will be responsible for developing and executing affiliate marketing strategies and campaigns that drive revenue and global subscriber growth. This role involves managing existing relationships, recruiting new affiliates, setting up conversion tracking, and analysing performance data to scale our affiliate publisher network.
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $80,000.00 - $100,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Rather, salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.

- Please note this opportunity is located in NYC. The hired candidate will be required to work from our NYC office several days per week.
Affiliate Strategy and Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive affiliate marketing strategies to meet subscriber growth and profitability targets
- Identify and recruit new affiliates and partners who align with the company’s brand and objectives
- Maintain strong relationships with existing affiliates and enhance affiliate productivity
- Monitor affiliate practices and ensure compliance with company policies and brand guidelines
- Setup affiliate link and conversion tracking using tracking platform
- Analyse performance data and metrics to evaluate affiliate effectiveness and ROI
- Optimise campaigns and strategies based on performance analysis and market trends
- Negotiate and review affiliate advertising agreements
- Utilise A/B testing, special offers and other techniques to improve conversion rates and overall success within the affiliate program
- Work closely with the marketing team to integrate affiliate marketing with other marketing channels and new seasonal or ongoing campaigns
- Coordinate with other departments including creative and product to ensure branding consistency
- Prepare and present detailed reports on the performance of the affiliate program to senior management
- Develop and manage the affiliate marketing budget and forecasts
- Ensure cost-effective spending while maximizing affiliate program effectiveness and ROI
- Stay updated with affiliate marketing trends and technology advancements
- Recommend and implement technology solutions to enhance affiliate program capabilities
- Ensure the affiliate tracking and management tools are effectively integrated
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Extensive experience in affiliate marketing or a related digital marketing role
- Understanding of key performance marketing metrics and affiliate marketing KPIs
- Proven track record of managing affiliate programs with positive results
- Strong understanding of the affiliate marketing ecosystem
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in one or more affiliate marketing platforms & tracking tools (e.g., LinkTrust, Tune, CJ Affiliate, Partnerize, Impact)
- Ability to analyse data and provide evidence-based recommendations
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects effectively
- Proactive, with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong relationship-building skills, capable of establishing positive and productive partnerships
- Excellent attention to detail and project management skills
- Superb work ethic and positive, can-do attitude
