We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on cost accounting. This role is essential in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting key financial processes such as budgeting and forecasting, and driving performance improvements across the organization. A CPA certification is a significant advantage, and expertise in Excel is required.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with metals or heavy manufacturing experience being a strong plus.
• Proven experience in cost accounting is required.
• CPA certification is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions like VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
• Experience with Oracle or similar accounting/ERP systems.
• Familiarity with fixed asset and lease management is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours during critical financial reporting periods.

Essential Duties:

• Month-End Close: Lead month-end close activities, including complex calculations for purchase price variance, inventory valuation, and revenue recognition.
• Journal Entries & Reconciliations: Prepare and post month-end journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and generate various financial reports.
• Cost Analysis: Analyze and report on production costs, material usage variances, and overhead allocation. Compare actual costs to standard costs and investigate variances.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
• Inventory Management: Oversee the accuracy of inventory valuation, conduct periodic physical inventories, and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Cost Estimation: Develop and maintain cost estimates for new and existing products, and assist in pricing decisions by providing detailed cost analysis.
• Internal Controls: Ensure strong internal controls are in place and functioning effectively, particularly concerning inventory and cost accounting.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, focusing on the cost of goods sold and gross margin analysis.
• Performance Metrics: Develop, produce, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to guide strategic business decisions.
• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to align financial data with operational performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Audit Support: Assist in both internal and external financial audits by preparing schedules, collecting data, and coordinating with auditors.
• Special Projects: Provide support to the Controller on various financial projects and assignments, including ad hoc reporting and analysis.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
