Description

Are you passionate about outdoor gear and fashion? This role involves leading a design team to craft innovative products for the outdoor industry, specifically focusing on woven top and bottom categories. You will ensure that every product is both functional and stylish, managing the design and development process from concept to completion.

Staying ahead of market trends through travel and research is essential. Your knowledge of industry innovations and customer insights will guide your team and shape the design process. In this dynamic position, you will inspire and organize your team to meet deadlines and achieve milestones, collaborating with creative and merchandising teams to align designs with financial goals and seasonal strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation by designing and developing outdoor-specific products that blend functionality with style.
  • Lead and motivate a team of designers to deliver a cohesive product message.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure products meet high standards and align with the brand's vision.
  • Analyze customer insights, market sales, and industry trends to identify growth opportunities.
  • Work with the material team to create high-performance fabrics, trims, and technologies.
  • Coordinate with sourcing teams to meet production standards and innovation goals.
  • Provide clear direction and support while encouraging autonomy and creativity within the team.
  • Research market trends and recommend new product designs and growth opportunities.
  • Create seasonal color palettes and key looks that support merchandising strategies.
  • Proofread product copy and web pages to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Build and manage seasonal information in PLM software.
  • Present seasonal product briefs and facilitate product demonstrations.

What We're Looking For

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Product Design/Development or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 12+ years in apparel design/development, with 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and Adobe Illustrator skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in woven construction and fabrications; ability to learn knits and sweaters.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects from concept to completion.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PLM systems.

Compensation
