Senior Environmental Health and Safety Manager - Manufacturing & Aerospace

Description

You will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety excellence within the organization. This position involves acting as a change agent, influencing managers and employees to take appropriate actions regarding Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) risks. You will assist leaders in assessing and prioritizing these risks based on legal requirements and business objectives, while closely collaborating with management and legal counsel to address regulatory compliance and liability issues.

Experience

  • A minimum of 8-10 years in the environmental, health, and safety discipline with a strong focus on safety.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a safety professional is required.
  • Experience in aerospace is preferred.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Coach site operations leaders to create a culture of safety excellence by implementing safety leadership systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the review, update, and implementation of the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with local EHS legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company standards.
  • Serve as a technical expert in corporate EHS software systems to support compliance activities and performance metrics tracking.
  • Facilitate training and develop materials to ensure employees have the necessary knowledge and skills for safe work practices.
  • Lead investigations of high potential incidents and facilitate root cause/corrective action processes.
  • Manage the site environmental program, including permits and waste management.
  • Collaborate with corporate risk management and engineering teams to address EHS considerations in capital projects.
  • Supervise EHS consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Advanced certifications such as CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH are desired but not required.

  • Proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Strong technical and regulatory expertise in EHS requirements and industry standards (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and solve problems creatively.
  • Excellent interpersonal management skills and the ability to build trust across the organization.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
